On October 10, 2023, trainers from RTC-KorPhil, Davao Diploma in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Technology (DABET) participated in the four-day Training for Trainers (ToT) in Tropical Vegetable Production at Villar Foundation Farm School Davao. These DABET trainers are Engr. Ailyn R. Tejero, Ms. Ianna Marie D. Pioquinto, and Ms. Mary Grace A. Pelayo.
This free training which will be from October 10-13, 2023 is organized by the East West Seeds Foundation and Villar Foundation Farm School Davao (formerly known as Villar SIPAG Farm School Davao) and is a comprehensive training on AgriCrops Production specifically on tropical vegetable production.
This free training includes lessons on trends and opportunities in the vegetable industry, crop and farm planning, soil management, seedling production and management, major horticultural practices, pest and disease management, new agricultural technologies, and marketing of vegetables. In other words, this training would cover the supply chain in tropical vegetable production from the planning stage until vegetable marketing. These topics will be discussed through a series of lectures or modules and hands-on exercises.
As this free training on tropical vegetable production is seen as a great opportunity for RTC-KorPhil DABET trainers to expand their knowledge and skills in agricultural crop production, this training would also be highly beneficial to the transfer of knowledge on the relevant and new technologies relating to vegetable production to the diploma trainees of the Training Center.
In this sense, this continued partnership between TESDA RTC-KorPhil, Davao, Villar Foundation Farm School, and the East West Seeds Foundation is a testament to the continued drive towards sustainable agriculture in Davao Region and the Philippines in general.
