Twenty-five rice farmers as well as personnel of the Rice Processing Complex (RPC) KorPhil in Sinaragan, Matanao, Davao del Sur will be more equipped in the operations of machineries in hopes to improve their local rice farming, from production to processing.
This comes as TESDA XI allocated one batch of Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) with RTC-KorPhil Davao as training provider for the 29-day Mobile Training Program to boost competencies of the farmers in the industrial practices of operating machines in land preparation, crop establishment, crop care, harvesting and threshing, drying, and milling.
RTC-KorPhil Davao Center Administrator Engr. Constantino Panes Jr. Ed.D led the Training Induction Program on February 20, 2024 at the RPC-KorPhil Matanao facility which is now managed by a primary cooperative, the Dalawinon Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative.
Engr. Panes Jr. explained the roles of TESDA, scholarship benefits, training arrangement and responsibilities of the enrollees. The Commitment of Undertaking was also made clear for the scholars.
“You will be trained by TESDA. Please finish the training and you will learn a lot you can use in your farming or in your employment”, Engr. Panes Jr. said.
Officer-In-charged from the cooperative Mr. Gary M. Uy thanked TESDA for providing them with a much-needed training about rice production and postharvest operations since they are newly-mounted personnel of RPC-Matanao.
