On February 21, 2023, Suzuki Philippines, represented by Magnus Mateo, Eduard Agapay, and Goh Saye Kim, visited the Regional Training Center-Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC) in Davao. The purpose of their visit was to consult whether the speed boat engine belongs to the Automotive Servicing NC II or Motorcycle/Small Engine Servicing NC II qualification. Further, the team inquired the possibility of conducting Speed Boat Engine Servicing training in the Center.
The Suzuki team looked through the workshop area, including the training equipment and facilities. After their tour, they were accommodated at the APACC Accreditation room for a short discussion with Mr. Joie Vincent Dagohoy (Center’s Industry Coordinator), Engr. Lougino Miguel (Diploma in Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering Technology or DABET head trainer), and Mr. Jay Mark Nuevo (DABET trainer).
During the meeting, the Suzuki team proposed a possible collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). They reiterated their proposal on the opportunity to conduct training programs for speed boat engine servicing which they believed would be beneficial to both their company and RTC-KorPhil’s trainees – hence they prioritized first the identification to where the speed boat engine servicing being categorized by TESDA officially so that if their proposal became possible, they will begin at the correct path.
