The Regional Training Center – Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC) Davao initiated five (5) Training Induction Programs (TIPs) for various scholarship trainings commencing in February 2024. These programs include Mechatronics Servicing NC II, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC I & II, and Barista NC II, all falling under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP). The trainees underwent orientation sessions to familiarize themselves with their scholarship benefits provided by TESDA, alongside their duties and obligations as national scholars. Additionally, they were introduced to the procedures for utilizing the Biometric-enabled Scholarship Registration System (BSRS) for attendance tracking, encompassing Time In and Time Out protocols.
On February 20, 2024, the TIP for Mechatronics Servicing NC II was conducted by RTC-kPVTC Davao’s trainer and scholarship staff, Ms. Kimberly R. Almario. This program, facilitated by TESDA, equips individuals with skills in the installation, configuration, and testing of mechatronics and automation devices/systems. The training duration spans from February 20 to March 31, 2024.
Simultaneously, the TIP for Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NC II, under the guidance of Mr. Dwight Silagan, took place on February 22, 2024, led by Mr. Joie Vincent R. Dagohoy, Scholarship Assistant of RTC-KPVTC Davao. EIM NC II encompasses competencies necessary for installing and maintaining electrical wiring, lighting, and related equipment, and systems in residential houses/buildings. The training period extends from February 22 to March 27, 2024.
Furthermore, trainees of SMAW NC I, SMAW NC II, and Barista underwent orientation together in the Multipurpose Hall of RTC-KPVTC Davao on February 26, 2024. These programs are currently scheduled for evening and weekend classes, and to accommodate participants unable to attend in person, the TIP was conducted via hybrid (face-to-face and online) platforms. Trainers for these courses include Mr. Joseph I. Junio, Mr. Lou Cobacha, and Mr. Mikko D. Rosell, respectively.
These Training Induction Programs mark the commencement of the TESDA scholars’ training journey. Attendance of at least 80% of the total training duration is mandatory to retain scholarship benefits, alongside undertaking the compulsory National Competency Assessment, both of which are provided free of charge under TWSP. Additionally, trainees will receive a daily allowance of Php 160.00 for each day of training, serving as training support funds.
