The Regional Training Center – Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC), Davao has brought home two gold medals from the recently concluded Philippine National Skills Competition, held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. These victories played a crucial role in TESDA Region XI’s unprecedented success, which saw the region emerge as the overall champion for the first time since TESDA’s inception in 1994.
RTC-KPVTC, Davao’s gold medals were secured in the Automotive Technology and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning categories. Janxent M. Basalo triumphed in Automotive Technology under the guidance of expert Armando D. Bolivar, while Agxille Jade T. Langamin claimed victory in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning with the support of expert Eugene R. Valdez.
These two gold medals were among the five that TESDA Region XI garnered during the competition. TESDA XI made history by winning five golds, three silvers, two bronze medals, and four certificates of excellence, a feat that has never been achieved by the region since TESDA’s founding.
In addition to the gold medals, RTC-KPVTC, Davao also contributed a silver medal in Graphics Design, thanks to competitor Jurell P. Sierra and expert Raye Adrian S. Dayot. The center also secured two bronze medals in Mechatronics, with competitors Artcin L. Deocampo and John Erick M. Anzano under expert Rhian Dhae B. Sarsaba, and in Carpentry, with competitor Christian L. Tenchavez under expert Marvin I. Santosidad.
These accomplishments underscore the exceptional skills and dedication of the trainees and experts at RTC-KPVTC, Davao. The gold medalists are now set to represent the country in the upcoming WorldSkills ASEAN, where they will compete against the best from across the region.
This historic victory for TESDA Region XI marks a new chapter in the region’s commitment to excellence in vocational education and training, setting a high standard for future competitions.
