On January 20, 2023, the Regional Training Center – Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC) in Davao, Philippines, led by Engr. Constantino B. Panes Jr. together with Senior TESD Specialist Jonathan V. Lopez, distributed starter toolkits to 20 trainees of Dressmaking NC II. The event was also attended by Engr. Rey Sagot, Municipal Administrator of Sto. Tomas representing Municipal Mayor of Sto. Tomas, Mayor Roland S. Dejesica, and Janette D. Castromayor, PESO Manager & CTEC of Sto. Tomas.
The trainees were part of a program called the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The training was held under the supervision of Mr. Ronald Saig, an accredited trainer for the said qualification.
The distribution of starter toolkits is a significant part of the training by providing the trainees with the necessary tools and equipment to enhance their knowledge, skills, and attitude to prepare them for employment opportunities in the garments industry. The RTC-KPVTC Davao is committed to provide quality technical training and education to Filipinos, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and positive work values to succeed in the world of works.
The Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) is a significant program of TESDA that aims at providing training and employment opportunities to Filipinos, particularly those from disadvantaged communities. The program has been instrumental in producing skilled workers to various industries, and this partnership between RTC-KPVTC and LGUs will continue to provide even more opportunities for Filipinos to improve their lives through technical education/training and employment.
