TESDA Regional Training Center-Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KorPhil), Davao, celebrated its 19th Founding Anniversary on Friday, March 8, 2024 with a joyous event filled with festivities and cultural displays.
The occasion not only marked nearly two decades of educational excellence but also served as the grand finale for the 14th Korean Cultural Festival, creating a dynamic blend of tradition and innovation.
The day commenced with lively morning activities, including Bibimbap Making for RTC-KorPhil employees and spirited Korean/Filipino games for students.
The highlight unfolded in the afternoon with a multifaceted program featuring an Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) showcasing the past and present activities of RTC-KPVTC, a captivating Promotional Video Contest for the Diploma of Technology programs, and cultural showcases such as the mesmerizing Fan Dance and a captivating Korean Play. The climax was reached with the TOP 2 Performances in K-Singing, K-Dancing, and Korean Speech Contest, culminating in the prestigious awarding of winners and certificates.
Adding to the grandeur, Mr. Choi Gyongshik, RTC-KorPhil KOV Volunteer, pledged a generous total prize money of 30,000 pesos across five categories – Korean speaking, Korean singing, Korean dancing (KPop), cooking contest (Bibimbap Making), and foot volleyball (Jok Goo) competition. The breakdown featured a prize of 6,000 pesos for each category, with 1st place receiving 3,000 pesos, 2nd place with 2,000 pesos, and 3rd place with 1,000 pesos.
The closing ceremony was also honored by the presence of esteemed guests, including TESDA XI Regional Director Ashary A. Banto, Ms. Myrna C. Roa, Acting District Director and ROD Chief, and representatives from the Korean Community of Davao – Maeng BongHo (President), Seo YoungCheol (Vice President), Sim JongSeok (Secretary General), and Youn Je Kwon.
RD Banto delivered a powerful message, emphasizing the profound significance of the partnership between KOICA and RTC-KorPhil, highlighting the collaborative efforts that continue to shape the center’s success story.
The official closure of the program was conducted by the Center Administrator of RTC-KorPhil, Davao, Engr. Constantino B. Panes, Jr., Ed.D., adding a touch of ceremony to the conclusion of this memorable day of celebration and cultural exchange.
