Twenty-five ‘Children in conflict with Laws’ (CICL) under the watch of the DSWD-Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth Davao will be trained anew in the Domestic Refrigeration and Air-conditioning NC II after some of them are trained and assessed in Housekeeping NC II on 2023.
In a Training Induction Program conducted on 20 February 2024, the Center Administrator of TESDA RTC-KorPhil Davao Engr. Constantino Panes Jr. Ed.D opened his talks by inspiring the children with a bright future ahead if they learned new skills and nurture it with the right discipline and determination, as ticket to reach their careers.
Engr. Panes Jr. made example his own son who did not finish college but took TESDA qualifications and is now employed in Australia earning a promising salary. This awed the children to commit for the training, as seen in their facials and gestures.
In his further interaction with the children, Engr. Panes Jr. explained to the scholars about Commitment of Undertaking which he asked a child on what is his understanding of the word commitment.
The child responded “Kung ang promise kay saad nako sa ubang tao, ang commitment kay saad nako sa akong kaugalingon na humanon nako ang training ug paghatag sa akong 100%”, which helps pulled the commitment of other children to participate well in the training.
In her part, RRCY Center Head Ms. Angelic B. Pana expressed gratitude to TESDA for extending its services to the children. She also highlighted that DSWD-RRCY and TESDA KorPhil Davao have been active partners for the skills development of the CICL mentioning that some of the completers were now reintegrated in the community who works in industries relevant to their acquired competencies in TESDA.
Pana urged the boys to “participate by heart and by commitment” reminding them to complete all the days of the training.
“Kinahaglan seryuso. Kinahaglan tutok. Dili mag-absent arun wala moy ma missed na lessod”, Pana said.
Under the TESDA’s Training for Work Scholarship (TWSP), the DomRAC NC II training program is another effort to provide an environment allowing the children to atone and to reform by learning life skills which helps them prepared when integrated back as productive citizens of the society.
