Years from now, residents of Sitio Tibal-og, Brgy. Ladian, Marilog, Davao City will benefit from a cooler and greener environment as various TESDA Operating Units (OU) in Davao City and Davao Del Sur mounted a Tree Planting Activity on June 9, 2023.
More than 40 trainers, trainees and staff from RTC-KorPhil Davao, Davao City/Sur Provincial Office, Provincial Training Center (PTC) Davao and Wangan National Agricultural School (WNAS), have planted 73 seedlings of Narra scattered in the slopes near the TESDA Agro-Industrial Training Center as part of the Green Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) practices of the participating OUs.
Leading the event was Davao City/Sur Provincial Director Adonis P. Culas with Carpentry NC II trainees of RTC-KorPhil Davao under the watch of the trainer Mr. Ariel F. Mazo. The participation of the trainees from the construction sectors proved that caring for the environment is everyone’s responsibility. Green TVET member of RTC-KorPhil Davao Ms. Ianna Marie D. Pioquinto also attended the activity and appreciated the collaboration of all participants in the activity.
Under the pillars of Green TVET, it aims to develop and maintain green spaces that include tree-planting initiatives to enhance biodiversity and create a sustainable environment. The tree planting activity symbolized the collective commitment of TVET institutions to promote environmental sustainability and address the pressing challenges of climate change. It also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of reforestation and the pivotal role of vocational education in environmental conservation.
