The new Country Director of KOICA Philippine Office Kim Eunsub and his Assistant Country Director Lee Takgun visited RTC-KorPhil Davao on April 27, 2022, (Wednesday) to inspect KOICA’s phase 1 and phase 2 projects in the Center as preparations for the conduct of post-management assistance, checking the status of KOV e-volunteering initiatives and on the proposals for the KOICA’s 3rd phase project in the Center.
The relation between KOICA and TESDA RTC-KorPhil Davao remain close despite the tests of time; during the dreadful era of COVID-19 pandemic and series of intense earthquakes in the Davao Region. Although the Korean Overseas Volunteers (KOVs) went back to Korea due to said calamities and pandemic, online or the e-volunteering initiatives were carried-out and health protocol-based visitations of officials from KOICA Philippine Office took place as well.
As the surge of the pandemic subsided, the new KOICA’s Country Director in the Philippines and his assistant promptly visited the Center to conduct an inspection and evaluation to the buildings and facilities of KOICA’s phase 1 and 2 projects for repair / refurbishment as post-management assistance with 15 million pesos allocated budget. Relatively, the two dignitaries asked the TESDA XI and RTC-KorPhil officials led by Regional Director Lorenzo Macapili to submit a comprehensive proposal for a phase 3 project in the Center to be funded by KOICA to which RD Macapili hinted to RTC-KorPhil officials the need of trending IT infrastructures and requisition of augmented reality equipment as essential parts of the 3rd phase project proposal. On the other hand, Assistant Country Director Takgun asked the Korean Language focal person of the Center, Mr. Rhian Dhae B. Sarsaba about the actual needs of e-KOVs for the Korean Language subject and possible deployment of KOVs in the Center even to the other trade areas if and when the havoc of pandemic gone or reduced dramatically.
TESDA XI and RTC-KorPhil Davao led by Regional Director Lorenzo Macapili extended their heartfelt gratitude to the Country Director Kim Eunsub and Assistant Country Director Lee Takgun of KOICA Philippine Office and to the KOICA Headquarter for the unceasing support and care for the Center.
It can also be remembered that during the 17th Anniversary and 11th Korean Cultural Festival of the Center last March 8, 2022, the KOV Program Coordinator, Ms. Choi Yoonhee and party graced the celebration and conducted a tour around the Center.
