The very successful Mindanao Traders Expo (MTEx) 2023 which was conducted at the RTC-KorPhil Davao’s Multipurpose Hall on August 18 & 19, 2023 was a fruition of the collaborative efforts between Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) and its long-time Industry Partner. Mr. Maximo Ginez, III the operations manager of Maxmedia Enterprise maximized the creative and technical prowess of the 3rd Year DIT students assigned to him in this Supervised Industry Learning (SIL) season (also known as OJT) to plan and organize the event. The seven (7) DIT SIL students were assigned according to their skills and fortes; Dexter Honorio was appointed as the team leader/Production Head, Ryan Jay Rabaño – Event Designer (including 3D animation & 3D venue simulation)/Event Maintenance, Joseph Monares – Live Streaming/ Camera/ Web Development, Chrislhyn Jale Davis – Event Designer / Online Marketing, Ivanna Gaerlan – Segment Director / Online Marketing, Hernan Rivero – Behind the Scene (BTS) / Same Day Edit (SDE) with the help of Jinro Militar & E.G. Man Esgana (2nd Year DIT students) documentations and April Dawn De Guzman – Secretariat/Logistics Management.
MTEx 2023 was the first and biggest event for Forex Traders community in Mindanao. This was highly anticipated as this is the perfect platform to delve into the world of Forex, Cryptocurrency, and Stock Market Trading. The 2-day event was a full-house of 19 speakers who were mostly coming from Manila, others had flown from Cyprus, Australia and Hongkong as they are basing from said countries. The Keynote Speaker was Sir Daniel Ang a renowned Singaporean Trader who was once became an independent speaker for Europe’s largest derivatives exchange and author of the book entitled “The Accidental Trader”. In support to this IT trending event, PCOL Ricardo Punzalan, the Regional Chief of Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 11 – PNP ACG RACU 11 along with his two officials rendered a short seminar and highlighted their mission on catching online scammers.
Each participating trading company had their booth – giving visitors with insightful talks, workshops, and networking opportunities especially to those who are new to the world of finance. Raffles and giveaways also thrilled the participants.
At the eve of the event, all DIT batches were given their respective parts in the venue preparation, installation and setting-up of the livestreaming and interview booth equipment likewise continued to do their services at the actual event. On the other hand, tourism department students of Mapua (Malayan Colleges of Mindanao) served as the usherettes through the guidance of Ms. Vaneza Dy Galileo who also served as the emcee of the event. Ms. Axle Rose Laude (Miss Earth Sultan Kudarat 2022) did a selfless efforts as the ambassadress of MTEx 2023.
