Mahayag NHS Students Start OJT at RTC-KPVTC, Davao

Ten Senior High School students from Mahayag National High School have embarked on a two-week OJT at RTC-KPVTC, Davao City. As part of their General Academic Strand (GASS) curriculum, the program immerses them in essential administrative functions, allowing them to apply classroom learning in a professional setting.

RTC-KPVTC, Davao Center Administrator, Engr. Constantino B. Panes, Jr., Ed.D., along with Administrative Head Mr. Aenon Prince A. Alporte, welcomed the students to the center. Engr. Panes highlighted the importance of the OJT program in equipping students with practical skills, while Mr. Alporte encouraged them to maximize the opportunity for hands-on learning and career growth.

The program rotates students through key departments such as Accounting, Training, Registrar, Assessment, and Procurement, providing a vital experience that bridges academic education and real-world work environments.

This OJT program is a critical component of their curriculum, offering students valuable exposure to workplace dynamics and helping them develop essential skills such as time management, teamwork, and communication. According to Ms. Mirasol M. Taghoy, Work Immersion Teacher at Mahayag National High School, this experience is instrumental in preparing students for future careers.

By the end of the program on January 28, 2025, the students will have gained technical skills, enhanced confidence, and a strong work ethic, setting them up for success in various career paths.

This collaboration between Mahayag National High School and RTC-KPVTC, Davao, formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement, aims to provide meaningful work experiences that go beyond academic instruction. Both institutions are hopeful that the partnership will serve as a model for future initiatives, offering students more opportunities to develop practical skills and meet the evolving demands of today’s job market.
