Two trainers of the Regional Training Center-Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center, Davao were upskilled in the Solid Waste Management Operations Level III during the Regional Lead Trainers Development Program from June 17 to July 10, 2024.
Mr. Joel A. Atablanco and Engr. Jeric F. Bilita attended the said RLTDP which was comprised of three modules with module 1 conducted at the National TVET Trainers Academy (NTTA) in Marikina City on July 17-28, 2024 gathering 35 TESDA trainers nationwide. In the first module, they acquired the knowledge, skills and attitude of the basic, common and core competencies of the newly promulgated Training Regulation and Competency Standard in SWMO Level III.
In the same module, the concept about the Waste Analysis and Characterization Study (WACS) was discussed as core activity done to identify the quantity and composition in the waste stream- the waste from source up to the waste disposed in the dumping sites. Results of the WACS allows effective and research-based implementation of appropriate interventions that may include programs, policies, projects, among others to manage solid wastes.
Modules 2 and 3 were conducted via zoom platform, still facilitated by the NTTA. In these modules, the trainers have worked on the development of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBLM), session plan, training plan, institutional assessment tools, and the calculation of the training cost.
The trainers were told to register the SWMO in their institution aside from the Multiplier training for Prospect Provincial Lead Trainers as part of their Re-entry Action Plan (REAP) signed by the respective Regional Directors.
