TESDA KorPhil, Davao, in a collaborative effort between Diploma in Hotel Restaurant Technology (DHRT) Events Management Services NC III trainees, mostly composed of academics and personnel from the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), and the Innovation, Research and Green TVET team, proudly hosted the 2024 Research Forum titled “Diploma in Technical Fields: Research Forum on Practical Applications” on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 8-11 AM at the Multipurpose Hall of TESDA RTC-KorPhil Davao.
This event was a crucial milestone in providing diploma trainees with practical research skills and knowledge. Under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), the Events Management Services NC III trainees, under the supervision of their trainer, Mr. Mikko D. Rosell, and in collaboration with the Innovation, Research, and Green TVET Team, led by Engr. Robert K. Arnaez, demonstrated their organizational prowess and commitment to excellence by organizing a forum aimed at providing diploma trainees, specifically 2nd year trainees, with essential knowledge and skills in conducting research within technical domains.
From 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., diploma trainees participated in a series of engaging seminars designed to provide them with key research skills for professional development. The occasion was not just the conclusion of the training journey of the Events Management Services NC III trainees, but also a demonstration of the trainees’ collaborative spirit and determination to cultivate a culture of research excellence.
Mr. Jestony Mark P. Aprong, MBA, Sr. TESD Specialist, representing Engr. Constantino B. Panes, Jr. Ed. D., Center Administrator of TESDA RTC-KorPhil Davao, delivered a warm welcome, setting the stage for the enriching discussions that followed.
The first speaker, Dr. Benjie Q. Badon, lighted the road for diploma trainees with his talk, “Introduction Illuminated: Crafting the Gateway to Your Research Journey.” Dr. Badon’s ideas gave significant help on how to properly initiate and navigate research projects. Continuing the discussion, Dr. Vilma D. Andoy, a noted expert in literature review and research critique, gave a session titled “Crafting Critique: Navigating Review Literature and Best Practices.” Through practical examples and insightful conversations, Dr. Andoy taught participants how to critically analyze current literature and improve the quality of their study.
Engr. Robert K. Arnaez, Senior TESD Specialist and Head of Innovation, Research, and Green TVET at TESDA RTC-KorPhil Davao, delivered the forum’s closing message. Engr. Arnaez praised the Research Team and Events Management Services NC III trainees for their combined efforts in organizing a successful forum, underlining the need to cultivate a culture of research excellence among diploma learners.
The 2024 Research Forum provided an opportunity for diploma trainees to not only demonstrate their academic abilities, but also to interact, learn, and grow together. TESDA KorPhil, Davao, continues committed to providing transformative learning experiences that equip the workforce of tomorrow.
TESDA KorPhil Memorandum No. 345 2. 2024 re: Research Forum 2024 reiterates the need to promote academic excellence and foster a culture of research and innovation for diploma trainees in RTC-KorPhil, Davao. In this sense, RTC-KorPhil Davao Innovation, Research, and Green TVET collaborates with Events Management Services NC III trainees to hold a Research Forum on May 5, 2024. The Research Team of RTC-KorPhil, Davao annually holds a research forum for its diploma of technology trainees who will subsequently develop their research outputs as part of their curriculum.
