Twenty-four trainees with their trainer Mr. Alexander Dagohoy of Carpentry NC II from RTC-KorPhil, Davao visited on July 10, 2023, the Bamboo Bootcamp at the Hayag Farmschool, Brgy. Baganihan, Marilog District, Davao City to witness the actual operations of carpentry works using bamboo from handicrafts to furniture, all the way to being used as a sustainable building material that does not compromise design, sustainability, and durability.
KWIVER Construction OPC General Manager, Engr. Kevin Marc G. Babate introduced bamboo processing into structural components and lectured the construction process to every facility in the bootcamp. The 24 trainees engaged with the Carpentry Workers on site together with the partner indigenous peoples of the farmschool.
The visit is part of the Job Shadowing program underscored in the guidelines of the TESDA Circular No. 18 series of 2023 or the Supervised Industry Learning (SIL) requiring a one-time industry visit for the trainees enrolled in NC I and NC II qualifications as exposure to the actual work setting.
