The Regional Training Center – Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC) Davao recently held a two-day Reproductive Health and Mental Wellness Program cum Planning Workshop to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. The event was held last March 13-14, 2023, at the Cavanico Il Mare Beach Resort in Brgy. Camudmud, Babak District, Island Garden City of Samal.
The program aimed to raise awareness about reproductive health and mental wellness among women and encourage them to take control of their health and well-being. The workshop also provided participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively plan and implement programs that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Personnel and staff of RTC-KorPhil engaged in various activities and discussions, including lectures on reproductive health, mental wellness, and gender equality, as well as group discussions and planning workshops.
Juliet G. Piquero, RM, Louela Ann O. Caballero, MSN, and Felma A. Siangco from the City Health Office – Rural Health Unit of Babak were the speakers who discussed reproductive health, STIs, HIV, AIDS, and family planning, respectively. In addition, Pastor Beltazar M. Tumabini shared his knowledge and expertise on mental wellness to ensure that participants gained a better understanding of these topics, especially nowadays, when a lot of individuals suffer from depression and often commit suicide.
The program was well-received by the participants, who expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn and share their experiences. They emphasized the need for more programs like this to be conducted in the future to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
