RTC-KorPhil Davao expands training presence in Digos, Matanao; to train 100 rice farmers this May
Rice growers in the City of Digos and Municipality of Matanao in Davao del Sur are set to acquire recommended farming technologies and practices as RTC-KorPhil Davao allocated 100 scholarship slots for the TESDA’s Farmers’ Field School in rice.
This comes true as agriculture trainers and scholarship focal of the Center met on March 28, 2022 to initiate planning with the City and Municipal Agriculturists of Digos and Matanao respectively for the four batches of FFS in the Production of High Quality Inbreed Rice, Seed Certification and Farm Mechanization.
Funded under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF), the 17-day training covers competencies from land preparation, crop establishment, water management, nutrient management, pest management, harvesting and post-harvesting.
Planned to roll out on May this year, the training will capacitate the farmers to attain productive yield and higher profit.
