Philippines Represent – The much-anticipated 13th ASEAN Skills Competition commenced with a spectacular opening ceremony at the prestigious Singapore EXPO Convention and Exhibition Centre on July 22, 2023.
The event brought together skilled participants from across the ASEAN region, ready to showcase their expertise in 22 skill areas. From July 23 to 25, these talented individuals will compete under five (5) sectors, namely Engineering, InfoCommunications Technology (ICT), Social and Personal Services, Transport and Logistics, and Creative and Fashion.
Representing the Davao Region and Philippine delegation is Engr. Constantino B. Panes Jr, Chief Expert in Mechatronics and Center Administrator of RTC-KPVTC, Davao. Alongside him is Mr. Rhian Dhae B. Sarsaba, an accomplished Mechatronics expert, who will contribute his extensive knowledge and skills to the competition. Adding to the contingent’s diversity of talents is Ms. Arlyn L. Basquez, an expert in the field of Hairdressing.
Competitors in the Mechatronics category are Mr. Victor C. Madelozo Jr. and Mr. Gerald D. Tagalog, graduates of RTC-KPVTC, Davao. Joining them is Mr. Shem L. Davide, a talented competitor specializing in Hairdressing.
The opening ceremony set the stage for an intense three-day competition, with participants vying for top honors in various skill areas. Under the Engineering sector, competitors will demonstrate their proficiency in CNC Maintenance, Electrical Installations, Electronics, Industrial Automation, Industrial Control, Mechanical Engineering CAD, Mechatronics, Mobile Robotics, and Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning.
In the ICT sector, participants will showcase their abilities in Information Network Cabling, Internet of Things, IT Network Systems Administration, and Web Technologies. Next, in the area of Social and Personal Services sector, competition will focus in Beauty Therapy, Cooking, Hairdressing, and Restaurant Services.
Meanwhile, participants in the Transport and Logistics sector will engage in friendly competition in the areas of Automobile Technology and Rapid Transit Systems. Finally, the Creative Arts and Design sector will feature the skills of contestants in Fashion Technology and Graphic Design Technology.
The event highlights the ASEAN region’s commitment to nurturing skilled professionals and fostering excellence in various fields. With ASEAN’s continued focus on enhancing technical skills, the competition serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and networking among participants from different ASEAN member countries.
After days of intense competition, the 13th ASEAN Skills Competition will culminate in a grand awarding ceremony on July 27, where outstanding participants will be recognized and celebrated for their remarkable achievements.
